Tutoring Services

A qualified staff is ready to assist students with specific writing issues, such as

  • Starting papers

  • Choosing a topic and writing a thesis statement

  • Focusing and organizing ideas

  • Arranging material in a logical pattern

  • Structuring sentences and writing paragraphs

  • Revising and editing drafts

  • Finding supporting data and preparing bibliographies
  • Taking notes and using documentation procedures

  • Citing sources and avoiding plagiarism

  • Special topics for non-native speakers of English

  • Taking essay exams

  • Grammar clinic

Note: Writing Center staff DOES NOT write, edit, or proofread student papers that will be submitted for class assignments; to do so would violate academic integrity standards. Tutors and coordinators, however, will use such papers to identify writing problems and help students correct their own work.
