Graduate Assistantships

The English Department awards a limited number of graduate teaching assistantships on a competitive basis.  Full-time and half-time positions are available for qualified students.  Assistantships currently provide a stipend of $1,200 to $2,400 per semester.  Assistantships involve either tutoring undergraduates in the department writing center or assisting faculty with research and other projects. This guided tutoring or mentoring experience on the university level, in complement to course work and research, helps to prepare graduate assistants for careers in the academic world or further study in a Ph.D. program.  Contact your graduate program director or the chair of the department if you are interested in one of these assistantships.
