Departmental Activities for Graduate Students
English Department graduate students actively participate
in academic and social activities with their faculty mentors and student peers.
Through the English Graduate Student Association (EGSA) and the Graduate Student
Association in TESOL (GSATESOL), funds are allocated to
support a variety of special departmental events each semester. These
may include workshops or a speaker's bureau. Visiting scholars or
writers lecture or deliver readings in a variety of areas: literary criticism,
the genres (drama, fiction, or poetry), history and the arts as they
relate to literary production, TESOL, or applied linguistics. In addition to EGSA, graduate students
in the M.A. program can also participate in the local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society.
EGSA and GSATESOL are administered through the university-wide
Graduate Student Association.
